Spectres Transpondered

Or Raison d'etre for New Division

(...)But punk never quite reached the suburbs here in the same way that it did in England, and so, many people (including my father) missed out on its lesson: that you didn't have to aim high to become extraordinary, that rudimentary was more than enough for transcendence to be possible. (...)

Ένα θα σου πω

Again

It could very well be the 'black dog' Gulietta Guicciardi, or the prophecy I owed myself. My right cheek is turning back. Pauses, hiatus. What else can be said about all this seating down in the face of such disonance, as it is witnessed by all? Carpeted floors, minute, blind spaces. I exhale anally holding on to the privacy the tobacco offers. Then again here you are, misspelling the pain.
Using the same vocabulary over and over and over.

Three years ago

"
[...]
Ah, here we are. On what subject. The question "whose are the feet?" to which they wanted to bring round [faire revenir] the question "whose are the shoes?" assumes that the question "of what?" or "what are the feet?" has been resolved. Are they? Do they represent? Whom or what? With or without shoes? These shoes are more or less detached [in themselves, from each other and from the feet) and by that fact discharged: from a common task or function. Both because they are visibly detached and because - never forget the invisible ether of this trivial self-evidence - they are painted objects (out of work because they are in a work) and the subject of a picture. Nonfunctioning, defunct, they are detached, in this double sense, and again in another double sense, that of being untied and that of the detachment/secondment of an emissary: diplomatic representation, if you like, by metonymy of synecdoche. And what is said of the shoes can also be said, although the operation is more delicate around the ankle, of the neck or the feet

I'M MARXIST, WITH GROUCHO LEANINGS

Almost 100 years to the day Alfred Jarry died and a few years since a substantial amount of facial hair made its appearance on the international football scene, Omada Ergasias will be participating at Art Forum Berlin (29 Sep – 03 Oct. 07) with a fête titled I' M MARXIST, WITH GROUCHO LEANINGS. A concoction of sports eventualities, filmic renderings and audio-visual artifacts are some of the opportunities to be laid bare by Omada Ergasias in another project of revisiting Alfred Jarry's extended legacy, briefly. Borrowing the language, format and tactics employed by art exhibitions, symposiums and amusement fairs I' M MARXIST, WITH GROUCHO LEANINGS will consist, amongst others, of a Trialectic Footbal Tournament, a 300km/h pedal bike competition, a conversation on aspects of the 'Pataphysical in contemporary culture, all open to the public of Art Forum Berlin. Also during I' M MARXIST, WITH GROUCHO LEANINGS one will be able to view a film program compiled by Omada Ergasias on 'Pataphysical offsprings under the title 'The Molecular Theory of Bicycles' and listen to the first-ever specially composed soundtrack by a member of Omada Ergasias to Jarry's Ubu Roi.
T-shirts and other souvenirs will be available for purchase alongside the obligatory artist poster editions and the late night party. This last one will take place on Sunday 30th September 2007 at the United Nations Plaza.
