Post-Freudian Impressions: Redefining the relation between church, power and the 'mommy-daddy-me' triangle in Cyprus after 1974
The repetition of the phenomenon of setting the blame on the other, as an attitude fundamentally characterizing the postcolonial, finds itself here in a paradoxically mediated one-to-one correspondence with the as of yet undifferentiated manifold of state-church power that had been consolidated in the figure of Makarios. The dangers for the alliance between the familial and the political (with the proper name 'Makarios' signifying the approximation of a nom du pere) brought forth by the introduction [in the guise of import] of the technological advances produced by an enlightenment that has been absent in an almost exaggerated fashion, are to be gazed at through the medusa-like laser eyes of the other as non-lover, as the one who in the guise of an arranged marriage conceals/veils an immemorial threat. In this fusing of the politics of blame with the realm of the aesthetic, in its revolutionary simulation of the space of celebrations of national commemorations in educational institutions and simultaneously of the stage of the kindergarden birthday party or the wedding, 'En i mana mou pou fteei' with the self-referential twist of quasi-english-accented cypriot dialect [ambiguously camouflaging its alliances within the post-colonial context it has set itself] reflects a certain failure to cope, a certain resignation: it brings with it no recipe for the dismantling of the aforesaid triangle, nor any effort towards the demarcation of church from state. Rather, it revolutionizes the fact of its own inability to put forth anything ostensively referential that could go beyond the realm of influence of the church and its coextensive family relations. It thus transforms the act of singing into a repetition of the voice's own impotence.

pssst!
our O(mbion) M(astros) will have no internet for the next few days in his personal abode. This has been brought about by our very own inside agents working at BT, making sure OM listens to nothing but elevator music through his telephone and recorded voice messages about how the best way to contact BT is through their website, thus heightening the irritation of OM by BT's seeming incompetence. The truth in fact is that BT's incompetence is due to our own covert plan to overthrow the heavy iron fist of this artistic/intellectual dictatorship.

Journalistic Poetry, the never-ending trauma of history or the infinite modes of language
From Phileleftheros:
For alternative version replace the word "zwa" with "paidia" (you can also add, for extra contrast in the dramatic effect, "pezoun anemela stis alanes / sta xwrafia", "kthnotrofwn" with "megalwn" and add "apo ton kataktiti / zigo" after polikosmia.
Lessons towards narrating disaster(s) in the history of Cyprus: Never change the mode, the structure or the vocabulary apart from the variable entities. Always let a tear drop and ask for the cameras.
Guide on how to mourn: Hit your chest three times, raise your hands up in the sky keep them up for three seconds, grab your forehead with your hands and bend over for three seconds, and again, and one, and a two and a three... (choreography of mourning). For additional tragic effect you can utter the following words changing the variable according to the situation:
The word "γιο" is the variable and can be replaced by "tsouroua", "aftokinito", "mixeraki tou frape" etc.
The execution of the black sheep (and then comes the white)
Finishing Unfinished Conversations
En antropi na pw oti to prwi pou ksipnw vazw nina simone jai xorefkw mes’sto spiti, perki ksipnisw? Oi ennen kathe mera. Apla kapote. Pete mou oti en to kamnete esis. Ate. En opws tes klanies. Oulloi kamnoun to. Paretate me.
No no that isn’t the unfinished conversation I just wanted to get your attention.
Would you hit me over the head if I asked what makes a good book good? Yes, you would, with a rather heavy book too. I would probably inflict bodily harm to someone if they asked that, in fact, I almost did lunge out of my seat to claw out the eyes of a certain tommy (unfortunately no relation with the gun, I asked, but was met with wide unappreciating eyes, which made me want to ask him reeee ttttommy! where do you go bearing? but I realized I wouldn’t be making any friends so tried to sit tight and smile) who bombastically claimed walcott to be writing trash. He should know. He’s been here 12 years. Or perhaps he needs a little passive eye clawing.
But where was I? George Eliot is also with one ‘l’ re christo. And she’s actually ok. No really, she is. Even if she does have a stupid name. I’m filling that “gap in my education”, he said admonishingly. I asked him if he read Grant Morrison but he said ‘the art history department deals with that. Comics are a far cry from thoreau alexandra (tsk tsk tsk).’
Which brings me neatly into my subject: discovering
To return, to return. Number 3. So. Is Ulysses a good book? Ha-Ha (no no, please, read that out loud, ha-ha, what happened? Do public school kids take elocution lessons in laughing?). What can you say to the person who thinks the english language is nothing but a ‘code’? the continentally educated who piss on anglophonic literature, so proud that beckett wrote in french, but when told it was because he wanted to write ‘without style’ they stutter and look confused. And then they discover tolkien (but through the movies of course my dear fellow) and suddenly feel like they have found a true philologian, here is someone who is able to utilize the english language, who is able to write greatly, they think. And here it ends. All english literature is crap, apart from lord of the rings, a true work of art.
Steam pours out of my ears. Where do I begin? And how should I presume?
Enough. Here is a picture of a missing bicycle. Enjoy.
P.S. The manglis way of doing the twist. (number 4).
